Joe Springer

JOE SPRINGER

Certified Prosthetist

Joe Springer, Certified Prosthetist, President of both Springer Prosthetic & Orthotic Services, Inc. and Greater Lansing Orthotic Clinic of Lansing, Michigan

He has been involved in the prosthetic profession in both clinical and technical aspects since 1973. Completed the Prosthetic Certificate Program at New York University Post-Medical School in 1977. VA-Certified through the veterans Administration in 1977 and Board Certified in the discipline of Prosthetics through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, Inc. in 1978.

Joe has been serving the mid-Michigan medical community and its patients since 1979. He opened his own practice in Lansing in 1990. Since then he has opened offices in Alma and Mt. Pleasant.

His expertise includes: specialized custom pediatric prosthetics; prosthesis for active teens and young adults; and the elderly and geriatric population. He served on the Michigan Orthotics and Prosthetics Association Board of Directors from 1996 to 2001. He also served on the “Bykes for Tykes” committee for the Children’s Miracle Network for four years. Outside of his duties at SPOS, he is, currently, the Head Basketball Coach for the Lansing Catholic High School basketball program.


Dean Woolcock

DEAN WOOLCOCK

Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist, Orthotic Department Head

Dean received his Bachelors degree from Kalamazoo College with a major in Health Sciences and a Spanish minor. He spent eight years after undergrad teaching high school anatomy/physiology, biology, and Spanish.

He started out as a volunteer performing both orthotic and prosthetic technical duties at the University of Michigan Orthotics and Prosthetics Center for one year and officially entered the field of orthotics and prosthetics when he joined the staff of Springer Prosthetic and Orthotic Services as an orthotic technician..

He completed his orthotic training at Northwestern University’s Orthotic and Prosthetic Certification Program in May 2003. Dean then studied prosthetics at Northwestern University and completed both orthotic and prosthetic residencies in 2005. He was certified in both Orthotic and Prosthetic disciplines through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, Inc. in 2006.

Dean is currently the Department Head of Orthotics. Although his specialty is pediatrics, he is involved in all levels of patient care. He has specialty training in scoliosis and cranial molded orthosis.


Jeff Purdy

JEFF PURDY

Certified Prosthetist

Jeff earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University in 1979. He has worked in both prosthetic and orthotic field since 1984. He joined the staff of Springer Prosthetic & Orthotic Services in 1991.

In 1992, Jeff successfully completed the Prosthetics certification program at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. While attending Northwestern, he completed the myo-electric course for the upper extremity amputee. Jeff was certified in Prosthetics through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, Inc., in 1994.

Jeff sees patients in both the Lansing facility and the Mt Pleasant and Alma facilities. He is an annual guest lecturer at Central Michigan University in the Physical Therapy Program. Also, he has done extensive work on improving the design of the Healing Boot, also known as the Crow Walker.


Len Poma

LEN POMA

Registered Tech - Prosthetics

Len has been involved in healthcare since 1978. In 1990 he joined up with Springer Prosthetic and Orthotic Services as a prosthetic technician. He became a Registered Technician in prosthetics through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, Inc. in 1993. Len is the Lab Supervisor and Safety Manager and is responsible for quality control.


Greg Isaac

GREG ISSAC

Registered Tech - Prosthetics

Greg started as a prosthetic technician in 1988. He became a Registered Technician in prosthetics through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, Inc. in 1993. Greg’s expertise is in cosmetic shaping and finishing. His talent of focusing on the little details in his work has been greatly appreciated by the patients he works with.


Joel Goike

JOEL GOIKE

Orthotic Fitterer

Joel graduated from the Orthotic and Prosthetic Technician Program at Baker College in June 2006. He completed his internship at the University of Michigan Orthotics and Prosthetics Center from June – August 2006. He joined the SPOS staff in September 2006.

Joel’s expertise is in custom and off-the-shelf knee orthosis, custom spinal orthotics and related soft goods. He manages the hospital in-patient and orders.


Linda Burcham

LINDA BURCHAM

Business Manager

Linda Burcham, our business manager, has more than 23 years experience in medical billing and has encountered all of the changes that have taken place in the health care industry. She is an advisor for the Medicare-Medicaid system and has trained personnel currently working in hospitals in Lansing, Grand Rapids, and many physicians offices.

Her expertise has helped many of our patients to be comfortable with the understanding of their insurance.


Vince Ciletti

VINCE CILETTI

Orthotic Technician

Vince joined SPOS in 1995 and presently oversees the daily fabrication of the custom orthosis. Vince finished Orthotic Technician school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1989. Prior to joining SPOS, Vince worked in Alabama and Missouri before moving to Michigan.


Suzanne Jotzat

SUZANNE JOTZAT

Board Elegible, Orthotist Resident

Earned her Bachelor of Science, Therapeutic Recreation, from Grand Valley State University in 2003. Worked at Hackley Hospital in Muskegon, Michigan as an orthotic assistant from 2003 to 2005. Suzanne completed the certificate program in orthotics at Northwestern University – Orthotic and Prosthetic Program in May 2006.

She joined the staff at SPOS in June 2006, completed her residency, and will be sitting for the board exams in the spring of 2008.


Chris Jonas

CHRIS JONAS

Orthotic Technician

Chris had worked as a Physical Therapy Assistant for five years before joining SPOS in 1999 as a technician for custom fabricated orthotics.


Kevin Brown

KEVIN BROWN

Certified Pedorthist; Owner of The Cobbler Shop, Alma, Michigan

Kevin heads up a foot clinic three Thursdays per month. He specializes in shoe inserts, custom foot orthotics, custom shoes for the diabetic patient, and shoe modifications. He has been associated with SPOS since 1998.

Kevin, also, sees patients in our Alma office by appointment on Wednesdays.
